Slopes of modular forms

Abstract:
In this talk, I will first explain the motivation to study the slopes of modular forms. It has an intimate relation with the study of the geometry of eigencurves. On the boundary of the weight disc, the previous work by Liu-Wan-Xiao gives an almost complete answer to this question. I will then explain a recent joint work in progress with Rufei Ren on the generalization of their result to eigenvarieties for certain Hilbert modular forms.
